Established in 1750 and achieving City hood in 1966, this is the only City in Zambales and has a population of almost 235,000, it boarders with Subic and the North, the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on the South and Bataan on the East.

It is very much a City and comprises mostly businesses and service related industries, it also houses two SM Malls.

There are a number of major transport terminals within the city.

Beaches:

Beaches and aquatic recreation abound are the areas of Barrio Barretto and Baloy Beach. These areas were very popular for R & R during the Vietnam era and when the US Bases remained, Barrio Barretto also hosts a number of Nightclubs.

Two of the resorts also offer "Inflatable Islands".

Subic Bay:

Large portions of the Subic Bay, previous home of the US Naval base are accessible from the Olongapo City areas of Barrio Barretto and Baloy Beach. There are a number of businesses and resorts that offer water sports, SCUBA diving, fishing and other aquatic recreation

Markets and Shopping:

There are two major markets, the City Market, in the central part of the city, which always has a great supply of fresh foods, sea foods and dry goods.

Then there is the Pag Asa Market, a bargain center for made to order and RTW clothing.

Malls: There are two SM Malls, both offer a range of stores, restaurants and cinemas, the latest and biggest, SM City Olongapo Central also hosts an ice skating rink and a Convention Center.
